HELPFUL TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

 

 

Global Community:

This includes Local Leads, participants (Winning Teams, Finalist Teams, Non-winning Teams), Support Teams, Global and Local Collaborators, Amplification Collaborators, NASA employees and GO Team members.

 

Local Judging:

This is the first round of Judging after the hackathon that is led by Local Leads. Local Leads recruit Judges to help nominate teams to move forward in the Global Judging process.

 

Global Judging:

A process led by the GO Team to review and select Space Apps Global Finalists and Global Winners. These are the next Judging rounds after Local Judging.

 

Global Nominee:

A team selected by their Local Lead to advance to Global Judging.

 

Global Winner:

A team in the Global Judging process deemed as the recipient of one of the global awards (such as Best Use of Data, Best Use of Hardware, Best Mission Concept, Galactic Impact, Most Inspirational, or Best Use of Science etc)

 

Local Event:

An individual Space Apps event site.

 

Local Lead:

The Space Apps hackathon organizers at each specific location.

 

NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge:

The full name of this program often, otherwise known as the Space Apps Challenge or Space Apps.

 

Participant:

An individual who attends a Space Apps hackathon and works on a solution. 

Team: A group of participants (ranging 1-6 people) working together on a solution at a given Space Apps location


Global Collaborators:

Organizations who make resource offerings available for free to the entire Space Apps community.
